What is the difference between Homeopathy and Naturopathy?A properly trained Homeopath specializes in Homeopathic Medicine and can effectively address various conditions using carefully selected remedies. It focuses on stimulating the body’s natural healing response using highly diluted remedies tailored to the individual. In contrast, Naturopathic Medicine, a relatively newer practice, draws from diverse natural and alternative therapies. Naturopaths, equipped with training in various modalities, employ a range of techniques and remedies tailored to individual needs, often emphasizing supplementation and dietary adjustments. However, unlike Naturopathy, Homeopathy offers a simple, safe, and effective approach that doesn't necessitate significant dietary changes or heavy reliance on supplementation, making it suitable for the whole family.

Will the remedies interfere with drugs that I am taking?Rest assured, homeopathic remedies won't mix chemically with your medications, so there's no need to worry about interference. Throughout its 200-year history, there haven't been any reported cases of homeopathic remedies causing toxicity. Homeopathy is designed to stimulate the body’s natural healing process using highly diluted substances, while conventional drugs often work by suppressing symptoms or directly altering the body’s functions. Interestingly, some homeopathic treatments may even boost your body's natural functions, potentially leading to a decreased reliance on certain medications. However, it's always wise to have a chat with your medical doctor about any changes to your medication routine for proper guidance and regulation.

Do I need to have a physical ailment to be treated? Not at all! On the contrary, symptoms [whether emotional or physical], are expressions of the body's efforts to heal itself, regardless of whether they stem from physical, mental, or emotional imbalances. Therefore, homeopathy does not necessarily require a physical ailment to treat. An ailment such as panic attacks and anxiety may in fact be accompanied by physical symptoms as well! With that we look at the entire presentation of the anxiety and panic attacks then choose a remedy that best represents this experience. The chosen remedy won't necessarily target a specific physical ailment but rather aims to rebalance the individual's overall state of being, addressing both the mental and physical aspects of their anxiety as a whole.

Is Homeopathic care covered by my insurance? While homeopathic care isn’t covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan), some private insurance plans do include homeopathy under their Extended Health Care coverage. Providers like Manulife and SunLife are examples that often offer this benefit. If you’re unsure, it’s worth reaching out to your insurance company to check your reimbursement eligibility. If you own a business, you might also consider setting up a Health Spending Account (HSA), which can be used to cover homeopathic care and other health-related expenses. I’m always happy to provide the necessary receipts or documentation for your claims—just let me know if you need anything specific for your insurance provider!
